Light: Thrives in bright light to partial light shade. Direct sun will scorch the leaves though so no keeping it on a really bright windowsill.

Water: Little and often is a nice watering approach for this one. We find letting the top layer of soil get a little dry and crumbly in between watering works well. This plant will also droop a bit when really thirsty. They are not hard to keep, but they are slightly diva-ish in that they do prefer warm water. It will relish a regular misting.

Height and growth rate: They are fast growing in the right conditions and can get to about 90cm tall.

Feed: Apply a weak dose of a fertiliser once a month during spring and summer.

Care tips: Alocasia have a dormant period where leaves will fade and die so don't worry if this happens, it's totally normal. During this period, it will require little to no water.

Toxicity: This plant is harmful if ingested, so keep out of reach from children and animals.

Origin: South East Asia.
