The Zamioculcas zamiifolia plant, (or more easily pronounced - ZZ plant) is one of the hardest plants to kill. And when they do endure some damage, they are capable of some serious regeneration. This is a more unusual variety of ZZ, and has deep black leaves. These plants like to be pot bound and because they have huge roots, the nursery pot can often look a bit distorted into an oval shape.
Light: The ZZ prefers bright, indirect light, but it can also grow in low light conditions.
Water: ZZ prefer the soil to dry out about ½ way down the pot between waterings. Don't let the soil dry out completely, but also be cautious not to over water. Moderation is key.
Humidity: They do like humidity, like most house plants - but they are very tolerant of low humidity.
Height and Growth Rate: ZZ plants reach about 1 metre tall. They have a slow to moderate growth rate depending upon the conditions they're in.
Feed: Apply a weak dose of a liquid fertiliser once a month during spring and summer.
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if consumed.
