The Zamioculcas zamiifolia plant, (or more easily pronounced - ZZ) is one of the hardest plants to kill. And when they do endure some damage, they are capable of some serious regeneration. This is a more unusual variety of ZZ, with deep black leaves. These plants like to be pot bound and because they have huge roots, the nursery pot can often look a bit distorted into an oval shape. It's pictured here in our John pot (15cm size)
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light, but it can also tolerate lower light conditions.
Water: Prefers the soil to dry out about ½ way down the pot between waterings.
Humidity: They do like humidity (like most house plants), but they are very tolerant of low humidity.
Height and growth rate: They will reach about 1 metre tall and have a slow to moderate growth rate depending upon the conditions they're in.
Feed: Apply a weak dose of a liquid fertiliser once a month during spring and summer.
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if consumed.
