The city rewards attention. Within its streets and structures, another landscape quietly takes shape: plants pushing through cracked walls, neglected gutters, vacant sites and forgotten corners. They reveal places that have been left to time.

Photographed throughout The Liberties, these images explore the overlooked plant life that exists alongside the built environment - growing beyond gardens, design and intention. At the centre of the series is buddleja, a plant that exists in a state of contradiction. Often regarded as a marker of urban neglect, its presence can signal abandoned buildings, disused sites and places where maintenance has fallen away. It takes hold in gutters, walls and forgotten spaces, flourishing wherever the city begins to loosen its grip.

Yet this same plant, often dismissed as a sign of decay, becomes a vital source of nectar for bees and butterflies during the summer months. Its lilac blooms bring colour and life to neglected corners, offering a reminder that regeneration can emerge in unexpected places.

Resist. is a collection of ten photographic postcards inviting a slower way of moving through familiar spaces. By wandering, looking and noticing, these images reveal a shifting botanical landscape woven throughout the fabric of Dublin’s streets - a landscape that asks us to reconsider the boundary between nature and the urban environment.
