A Beautiful Obsession by Jimi Blake
This book has my heart. If you are enthralled with a tropical style of planting (but make it Ireland), or want to bring zingy, joyful colours like oranges and purples and just absolute gorgeousness into your garden, this book will be a great resource one you pick up all the time. I say that because I have had it for a few years, and the photography and planting ideas still takes my breath away. Stun. What's more, you're supporting a wonderful Irish plantsman, Jimi Blake. Pair this book with the promise of a visit to Jimi's Huntingbrook garden's in Wicklow next spring/summer and you're away in the good books for sure.
Floriography by Jessica Roux
Did you know hyacinths mean 'please forgive me?' and heather symbolises luck and protection? This beautiful book explains the meanings behind much loved flowers and provides 'recipe' suggestions for bouquets with certain meanings. A lovely gift for someone who loves growing, foraging or pulling together bouquets.
Available in store and on our website here.
How to Grow the Flowers by Camila Romain and Marianne Mogendorff
This is a really thoughtful gift for someone who is flower and plant mad but also very conscious of sustainability. The authors approach to floristry is very much guided by the seasons, using what is local, and with care and consideration for our environment This book is for the person who really wants to grow their own cut flowers at home, on any size patch - big or small. It will help you choose what to grow when, and how and put it all together in beautiful arrangements. The photography is gorge too! Available in store and on our website here.
Terrarium workshop at Hopeless Botanics
A lovely way to spend an evening, join us in the shop to learn about and build your own terrarium. The workshop lasts about 2 - 2.5 hours, and in it we cover a short history of terrariums, how they work and why they're so cool. They are like mini ecosystems, in which the transpiration from the plants gets trapped on the glass, which then waters the soil again. You get to choose what plants you'd like to include, and have some fun tinkering around with it and chatting to other people at your table. People come alone, on dates, with family members or friends. It's a lovely evening and you get to take away your own terrarium designed and built by you at the end.
You can purchase a gift voucher for the amount of €105 here, which will allow the recipient to choose their own workshop date.
Or you can choose a workshop date and book in directly here.
If you'd like a hard copy of the voucher sent to you give us a call or email (details are at the end of this post).
