HB at Bord Bia Bloom 2024
It was a busy summer here at HB!
We kicked it all off by attending Bord Bia Bloom in the Phoenix park in Dublin at the end of May for the Bank holiday weekend.
Bord Bia Bloom is Ireland's largest gardening festival.
A huge attraction is the show gardens, which blow me away every year. The standard and creativity is next level. There's also great food vendors, plant nurseries, interesting talks and entertainment as well.
This was our second year at the festival, and we had a blast.
We were located in the nursery village, with a 5m x 5m tent that was ours to decorate and deck out for festival goers to enjoy. We also had loads and loads of gorgeous houseplants for sale.
Erin also spoke on the Garden Stage about all of the mistakes and mishaps she has made in her journey of caring for thousands of houseplants.
But more importantly, let me tell you about our display!
Our display this year was inspired by the generations of women that get together every year to enjoy Bord Bia Bloom.
Last year, one thing that stuck with us was how gorgeous it was to see so many groups of women come together - spanning generations, young and old, friends, family - all with a shared love of gardening, plants and flowers.
The women of Ireland being fabulous and getting together for a gardening hoolie. What a special thing to cherish.
We wanted to honour those women, young and old, new gardeners and novices alike, and pay tribute to the life and beauty they create with their own hands in their own homes and gardens.
To do this - we created a stunning dinner table, one that we would love to share with the women in our lives and enjoy a glass of wine and a tasty meal. The table was decorated with dried and fresh flowers, and hanging over it was a gorgeous dried flower cloud.
We had a very cool sofa from wonderful Irish business Pieces.ie and painted above it we chose some poetry by Maia poetry that we felt paid a beautiful tribute to all of the strong women before us.
Always in our hearts and in our minds are the amazing women of Palestine. We proudly hung a framed picture we got from Palestine on our wall.
Outside our tent we had a cute rattan chair throne with a dried flower crown placed upon it, inviting people to lord it and pause for an aul selfie.
We happily received a silver gilt medal for our display.
It was a crazy few days setting up and trading, and our wonderful team Tracy, Luke, Jess, Nad, Laura and Clodagh kept the energy levels up and craic at 90.
Big love to the dream team who knocked it out of the park and to all you lovely festival goers if you stopped by to see us.
Hopefully see ya again next year! x
